Organic Tea

ORIGIN

They live very happily with their families from the income earned from tea plucking in these estates. Earned money is spent on their daily needs, medicinal needs and for the education of their children revolving around a very simple life pattern.
These plucked tea leaves are then send to factories in Idalgashinne, Koslanda, Nagahavilla estates, where those are located in the plantation areas.
Tea plantation estates are located in picturesque areas known as Idalgashinne, Koslanda, and Nagahavilla. The life style of the Tamil people living in these areas depend on these plantations, their main income flows through plucking of tea leaves.
These tea pluckers spend most of their lives on the surrounding of Uva highland tea estates. Daily routine of these people is begun early in the morning with dawning sun rise out of the mildly moisten tea plantations, tea leaves are plucked by well-trained women and they are professional in what they are doing.

ORGANIC BLACK TEA

Fresh tea leaves are sorted and cleaned, withering and rolling is done and full fermented tea is then dried.

ORGANIC GREEN TEA

Plucked fresh leaves are sorted out and cleaned. These leaves are then cooled and later pan fried and again re-cooled. As the next step, leaves are dried and rolled. As the final step, shaping and styling take place.

ORGANIC WHITE TEA

Organic white tea is minimal processed, only tea buds are used in processing of white tea. Tea buds are sorted and cleaned and then dried as the final step.

ORGANIC CURRY LEAVES

As time pass, he developed this plantation and began to expand it. Dissanayaka used an agro-well which will not go dry for the whole year to water his cultivation which is a blessing of mother nature.
He harvests fresh curry leaves in the morning only on the request of MOFA. Then MOFA collects the leaves and sends them to Ceylbee factory for further processing.
Then these value-added products are exported to the international market through Ceylbee. Dissanayaka had no knowledge about the international market demand for curry leaves in the past. Previously most of his curry leaves went to waste because the local demand for curry leaves is low.
Dissanayaka is a strict farmer and he does full time farming to look after his family of 4 children and wife. His parents did chena cultivation and curry leaves plantation and it was passed down to him. He then started to grow permanent crops after them but he didn’t destroy the curry leaves plantation. So, these curry plants are very old and sustained.
At Ceylbee, the fresh leaves are washed, dried and grinded to get curry leaf powder. Packaging is done as whole and powder according to the customer request. Manufacturing practices are done in a safe environment and ensures the equipment is properly maintained under the correct sanitary conditions.
Through Ceylbee, Dissanayake has gained knowledge and has been able to reach the global market with his product and earn a fairly well income to have a good livelihood with his family.

Then later he started selling moringa pods and got a minimal income to cover up his consumption needs which was not sufficient to provide for all needs of his family.
With the establishment of MOFA, many farmers were educated with the values of herbs and the international market demands for these valuable commodities. He didn’t know the market for moringa leaves until this information were provided by MOFA.
Abeysekara also established a sprinkler irrigation system for his moringa farm and now he gets more yield not only from the leaves but also from the pods. The harvested Moringa leaves are then collected by a MOFA officer.
MOFA delivers the Moringa leaves to the Ceylbee factory. And in the factory the received fresh moringa leaves are washed, dried and grinded in to fine powder and packaging is done as per customer requirement.
Abeysekara is a farmer who has a Moringa plantation in Maduruketiya. His beautiful family consists of his wife and 4 children. He is the sole breadwinner for his family. There were few large moringa trees in his garden used for his family consumption.
He registered his moringa plantation with MOFA and by using the advises and knowledge provided by MOFA. Then he began to grow new plants from the planting material obtained from the mother plants to expand his cultivation, which are still small plants but will grow into large trees within a few years.
Ceylbee exports Abeysekara’s moringa to the international market. At present he earns good income through exporting processed moringa leaves and also gets an extra income through selling moringa pods from his moringa farm.
Abeysekara identified that there is a good market for the moringa leaves not only locally but also internationally through the MOFA, so now his target is to further expand his moringa farm with the help of MOFA

Organic LEMONGRASS

ORIGIN

Lemongrass harvesting is started when the plant is about a foot tall in size. At present, some farmers are very interested in planting lemongrass because it is a fast-growing plant which helps the farmers to earn a good income. Raw lemongrass leaves are cut and sent to Ceylbee factory through MOFA.
Lemon grass is a bushy plant which grows in fertile, well-drained soil. Tropical climate assists the well growth of the lemon grass plants. This plant is full of citrus flavor and can be dried, powdered or used freshly.
At Ceylbee, received raw lemongrass are cleaned, dried, grinded, powdered and it is customized as teabag cut, coarse cut, pieces and powder according to the customer requirement.
